GL-LS-1

Das Glow Lamp Lab Sample 1, oder kurz GL-LS-1, ist eine einfache Glimmlampenkonstruktion. Verwendet wurde 9mm-Kalknatron-Glasrohr und Dumet-Draht bei einer Luft-Füllung bei 9mbar:

Erkennbar gab es ein Problem beim Quetschsiegel; seitlich ist ein Stück Glas ausgeplatzt:

Die prinzipielle Funktion ist dadurch jedoch nicht beeinträchtigt, da das Quetschsiegel immer noch dicht ist. Das Vakuumsiegel ist bei dieser Röhre sehr gut gelungen:

Leider ist das Elektrodenabstand mit ca. 5mm zu groß, sodass selbst bei 550V DC sowie gepulsten 1.2kV (Maximalspannung des mobilen Nixie-Netzteils) kein Entladungsleuchten auftrat, weshalb diese Glimmlampe als Fehlversuch einsortiert wurde.

GL-LS-1

The Glow Lamp Lab Sample 1, or in short GL-LS-1, is a simple glow lamp construction. It uses 9mm soda lime glass tubing and Dumet wire in a 9mbar air filling:

Obviously there has been a problem with the pinch seal; a lateral part of the glass has cracked off:

The principal functionality of the tube is not compromised, though, because the pinch seal is still vacuum tight. The vacuum seal was a great success:

Sadly, the electrode distance of appr. 5mm was too large, so that neither 550V DC nor pulsed 1.2kV (maximum voltage of the mobile Nixie Power Supply) could light it up. That is why overall this glow lamp is considered a failure.
