Z590M (Labormuster)

Z590M (lab sample)

This Z590M by the manufacturer WF is a lab sample. Other from the regular Z590M (digit height: 10mm), this specimen has a digit height of 13mm. Here you can see her in size comparison:

The pins are aligned all in parallel, which is quite unusual and makes this Z590M look rather rectangular. In some sense this pinout is similar to that of the F9020AA by CSF. Note, however, that in case of this Z590M the pins are in parallel to the direction of view, whereas for the F9020AA they are perpendicular to it. Here you can see the Z590M in state of rest:

This Z590M lab sample was manufactured at the WF factories, GDR, Berlin, in the 1970s, and never entered mass production. It was traced back directly to the estate of the late Emil Häßler, who also developed this tube. It is hard to estimate how many of these lab samples exist worldwide, it is quite the oddity.

This is the glowing display of the Z590M:

The rectangular shape of the tube makes the display of the Z590M look a bit odd from the side:

Unfortunately, I do not have any datasheet or documentation on this lab sample version of the Z590M. If you know more, please email me, I would be very glad.
