NUP100

Die NUP100 vom amerikanischen Hersteller National Union ist eine mit ihren 12.5mm Ziffernhöhe relativ kleine Kopffüßler-Nixie:

Die NUP100 ist eine Kuriosität, da sie die einzige mir bekannte Kopffüßler-Siebensegment-Nixie ist. Zudem ist sie auch gleichzeitig die älteste Siebensegment-Nixie; National Union stellte Nixies der NUP-Serie (wie auch die NUP102) nur bis Ende der Fünfziger her. Beachten Sie den Novalsockel der NUP100. Dies könnte auf ein hohes Alter der Röhre hindeuten, da der Novalsockel und die Novalfassung wesentlich früher auf dem Markt waren, als die für Nixies gebräuchlichen dreizehnpoligen B13A Fassungen. Siehe dazu auch die GI-10 mit Novalfassung.

Natürlich kann es auch sein, dass die NUP100 einfach neun Pins hat, weil sie eine Siebensegment-Nixie ist. Aber vielleicht wurde sie ja auch gerade deshalb entworfen, um eine Anzeigeröhre für die damals üblichen Fassungen bereitzustellen. Dem widerspricht aber, dass die NUP102 bereits den B13A-Sockel besitzt, es sei denn, die NUP100 ist älter als die NUP102, was ja zumindest vom Typennamen her Sinn ergeben würde. Wer mehr dazu weiß, der schreibt mir bitte eine Email, ich würde mich sehr freuen.

Das Leuchtbild der NUP100 ist relativ klar, das Anodengitter ist ähnlich zur NUP102 sehr fein:

Die Segmentanordnung ist nicht symmetrisch; wo genau oben oder unten ist, bleibt offen. Der kleine Draht unten rechts (bzw. oben links) ist übrigens nicht als Komma ansteuerbar, wie mensch vielleicht erst meinen könnte; es ist lediglich eine Kontaktierung des Anodengitters.

Leider besitze ich kein Datenblatt zur NUP100. Sollte jemand im Besitz dieses Datenblattes sein, würde ich mich über eine Mail diesbezüglich sehr freuen.

Neben der NUP100 gibt es noch die NUP118, NU124-6, NUP120 und NUP121 von National Union. Über diese Nixies ist fast nichts bekannt, wenn Sie mehr wissen (zum Beispiel wenn Sie Fotos oder Datenblätter haben), schreiben Sie mir bitte eine Email, ich würde mich sehr freuen.

NUP100

The NUP100 from the American manufacturer National Union has a digit height of 12.5mm, making her a rather tiny top view Nixie tube:

The NUP100 is a curiosity, being the only 7 segment top view Nixie tube I am aware of. She is rather old, too; National Union's NUP Nixie tube series (e.g. the NUP102) was on the market only in the fifties. Here you can see the NUP100 in state of rest:

Please note the 9 pin base of the NUP100. This somewhat implies an old age of the tube, as the noval 9 pin socket was introduced way before the standard B13A pin Nixie tube socket. See the GI-10 with the 9 pin base, too.

Naturally, the NUP100 could have nine pins just because it is a 7 segment Nixie tube. But maybe the NUP100 had been designed for the sole purpose of supplying a raeadout tube for the then widely-spread noval sockets. Somewhat contradictory appears the NUP102, already incorporating a B13A base, although the NUP100 could be older than the NUP102, given the incremented type number. If you have more information, please email me, I would be very glad.

The display of the NUP100 is rather clear, the anode mesh being very fine, similar to the NUP102:

The composition of segments is not symmetric; it is left open, where the top or the bottom of the display is supposed to be. By the way, the small wire in tbe upper left corner (or the bottom right) cannot be used as a comma; it is merely a connection from the anode mesh down to the pins.

Next to the NUP100 there are the NUP118, NU124-6, NUP120 and NUP121 from National Union. Practically nothing is known about these Nixie tubes, if you have more information (e.g. pictures or datasheets), please do not hesitate to contact me, I would be very glad.
